Privacy Policy

Omni Hockey is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. We've tried to keep it clear and readable — if something doesn't make sense, reach out and we'll clarify. It covers both this website and the Omni Hockey iOS app.

Information we collect

We collect limited information to operate and improve the platform:

  • Usage data — Pages visited, features used, device type, browser, and general location (country/region). This is collected automatically through analytics tools and does not identify you personally.
  • Your preferences — The teams and players you favorite, the leagues you follow, and any games you pin for the day are saved in your browser. A copy of your teams, players, and leagues, tied to a random identifier your browser generates, is also sent to us so we can count how many people follow each team, player, and league. The identifier is not linked to you, your device, or your IP address. Pinned games are not part of those counts; we count only that a pin was added or removed, and in which league.
  • If you pair devices — Linking two browsers, or a browser and the iOS app, creates an anonymous account holding your preferences — including games pinned for the day, which lapse once that day is over — identified by a random code. No email address and no name is attached to it.
  • Account information — If you create an account in the future, we'll collect the information you provide (such as email address and display name). Account features are not yet live.
  • Communications — If you email us or submit feedback, we retain that correspondence to respond and to improve the platform.

In the iOS app

The app has no accounts and no sign-in. What it keeps is stored on your device, and only these things ever reach our servers:

  • Your preferences, on your device — Favorite teams and players, followed leagues, prospect switches, theme and layout choices. These live in the app's own storage and are not sent anywhere unless one of the cases below applies.
  • A notification registration, if you turn notifications on — Apple issues the app a push token, which we store along with what you asked to be notified about: the teams, players and prospect switches you follow, and which kinds of alert you want. Without it the server cannot send you anything. Turn notifications off and the registration stops being used; ask us and we will delete it.
  • Anonymous preference counts — So we can see which teams and players people follow in aggregate, the app may send a randomly generated install identifier together with the lists you follow. It is not linked to you, your device identifiers, your Apple ID, or anything else about you, and it is never sent from a region that requires consent first, because the app has no way to ask.
  • If you pair devices — Linking the app to this website creates an anonymous account holding only your preferences, identified by a random code. No email address and no name is attached to it.

The app requests no location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone and no camera. It contains no advertising and no third-party trackers or advertising SDKs.

We do not collect sensitive personal information such as financial data, health data, or government IDs.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the platform
  • Understand how fans use the site so we can prioritize features
  • Respond to feedback and support requests
  • Detect and prevent abuse or technical issues
  • Send occasional updates if you've opted in to communications

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Cookies and analytics

Omni Hockey uses cookies and similar technologies for basic site functionality and analytics. Specifically:

  • Essential cookies — Used for preferences like dark mode and scoreboard layout. These are stored locally in your browser and are not sent to any server.
  • Analytics — We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns (page views, device types, general geography). Google Analytics uses cookies and collects anonymized data. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Quebec, it runs only if you allow it in the notice shown on your first visit, and refusing also turns off the anonymous preference counts described above. You can change your choice at any time from the Cookie preferences link in the footer, or here: . Elsewhere, you can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by disabling cookies.

We do not use advertising cookies or retargeting pixels.

The app uses no cookies and does not run Google Analytics. The only usage measurement it does is the anonymous preference count described above.

Third-party services

The platform relies on third-party services to function. These services may process limited data on our behalf:

  • Vercel — Hosting and infrastructure. Vercel processes server requests and may log IP addresses and request metadata for security and performance monitoring.
  • Supabase — Database and caching. Stores application data such as cached stats. If accounts are added in the future, Supabase will store account data.
  • Google Analytics — Anonymized usage analytics as described above.
  • Affiliate links — Some links on the site may direct you to third-party products or services. Those sites have their own privacy policies. We may earn a commission on purchases made through affiliate links, at no cost to you.

Communications

If you contact us by email, we'll use your message and email address to respond. We won't add you to a mailing list unless you ask to be added. If we introduce email notifications or newsletters in the future, they will be opt-in only.

Data retention

We retain usage analytics in aggregate form indefinitely to understand long-term trends. If account features are introduced, you'll be able to delete your account and associated data at any time. Communications (emails, feedback) are retained as long as they're useful for improving the platform.

Your choices

You can:

  • Clear your browser cookies and local storage at any time to reset preferences
  • Opt out of Google Analytics via Google's opt-out tool or by disabling cookies
  • In the app, turn notifications off in Settings or in iOS Settings, which stops us sending anything
  • In the app, delete it to remove everything it stored on your device
  • Contact us to request deletion of any personal information we hold, including a notification registration or a paired-device account

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Significant changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
